residential building land is one of the most difficult steps during the
selfbuild project. Do not be put off by this statement because there is
land out there but you need to persevere and not give up. We will guide
you as to where you have the most chance of finding selfbuild land.
There is 2 distinct ways of finding building plots, Land without planning
permission and land with OPP.
Greenbelt Building Land
One of the
problems for individual self builders is the lack of building plots. One
of the reasons for this is that the large house builders have huge amounts
of land in their landbanks. This tends to be greenbelt land that will one
day be rezoned into prime building land. If you follow the link you will
find a company that purchases large amounts of greenbelt land and splits
it up into building plots suitable for self builders. This is a bit of a
gamble and the time factor is unknown but you will get land at a fraction
of the cost of building land with planning permission.

The
best and most complete database is

This service has many pieces of building land on the database. Each one of
these building plots is regularly checked to see if the
land is still for sale or has been sold. This up to date information is
important because the problem with some services in the past was that the
information in the databases or magazines was weeks or months out of date,
the selfbuild plot had been sold long ago.
